Introduction To EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a type of therapy used by a trained professional to help their client process events or disturbing thoughts. EMDR utilizes 8 phases to help people process using bilateral stimulation. The bilateral stimulation such as bilateral tapping, eye movements or auditory sounds to allow the brain to use both sides of the brain to process the event, memory, or thought. When the brain uses both sides of the brain to process, it allows the brain to rewire the neuro pathways allowing the client to think differently about the situation.

While many clients appreciate a Christian perspective in their healing journey, it isn’t a requirement for EMDR therapy. I have been specially trained to integrate faith with EMDR when desired, offering space for both evidence-based care and biblical truth.
