Christian Counseling at Redeeming Lives Counseling

At Redeeming Lives Counseling, Christian therapy offers a Christ-centered approach to mental and emotional healing. If you choose this service, you will experience a non-judgmental, supportive environment where we can explore how your faith can provide comfort, direction, and transformation. God's Word will serve as our authoritative guide as we partner together to determine what changes need to occur and how to facilitate them in your life.

I use two primary therapeutic models in faith-based therapy: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and the TRUTH model. Both approaches incorporate biblical principles and proven psychological methods to address emotional and mental health challenges.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

CBT is an evidence-based therapy that focuses on identifying and changing negative patterns of thought and behavior. Research shows that CBT is highly effective for a variety of mental health conditions, including anxiety and depression, with long-term improvement for up to 60% of participants after treatment. It works by teaching you to challenge distorted thinking and replace it with healthier, more positive thoughts. This leads to better emotional regulation and more constructive behaviors.

The TRUTH Model
The TRUTH model is a faith-based approach designed to help you replace destructive patterns with biblically aligned beliefs and behaviors. Here’s how it works:
-
T: Triggering Event – A situation or event that triggers an emotional response.
-
R: Reckless Thinking – Automatic, unredeemed self-talk that is often negative or self-defeating.
-
U: Unhealthy Response – Behaviors or emotions that harm you and your relationships.
-
T: Truthful Thinking – Replacing negative thoughts with God-honoring beliefs and biblical truths.
-
H: Healthy Response – Positive actions and emotional regulation that reflect Christ-like behavior, leading to healthier relationships and life outcomes.
-

The TRUTH model integrates Christian principles with a clinically sound structure, helping you align your thoughts and actions with biblical truth, fostering healing in both your mind and spirit.

Selecting the Right Faith-Based Counselor

When choosing a faith-based therapist, it's essential to recognize that each counselor may approach therapy differently, depending on their training, religious focus, and psychological expertise. Consider these factors:

-
Religious Training: Some therapists have formal religious training, while others incorporate faith into their practice based on personal experience.
-
Religious Integration: The degree to which religion is incorporated varies—some therapists may integrate social science with scripture, while others focus primarily on biblical principles.
-
Populations Served: Faith-based therapists may specialize in different populations, such as specific denominations, families, or trauma survivors.
-
State Licensing: Some Christian counselors are licensed professionals, while others are faith coaches or spiritual advisors. Licensed counselors must adhere to ethical standards that prevent imposing personal beliefs but can still offer spiritually rich, biblically grounded counseling.

Finding the right Christian Counselor for you involves considering the blend of spiritual and psychological support that best fits your needs. It’s important to research local counselors, ask about their experience, and ensure you feel comfortable with their approach.
